I look at the lemon tree outside my apartment and the first thing that catches my eyes are those yellow, bright lemons. Ripe and fragrant. Their color can be spotted from a distance. But after looking at the tree for a while I see smaller, green lemons as well. Perfectly camouflaged with the tree amidst the leaves and branches. These will ripen and brighten tomorrow, but until then they have to hang tight, stay hidden and blended before reaching its true colors.
This is true for flowers and other fruits as well. In the initial bloom every fruit starts out as invisible, inconspicuous and camouflaged with its surroundings. Until it is ready. In strength and sweetness. Ready to execute its purpose, and spread its sweetness and fragrance. Then it is big, bright and beautiful, impossible to ignore.
Life is similar in this way. Every new journey or phase of life has a period of invisibility and wait. This invisibility is nothing but a preparation for the unity ahead. It is not weakness or something to be critical of, but a necessary and critical part of the process. Without this step, the process is forever incomplete.
Whether we are adults or children, the process remains the same. Even as adults when we start out a new venture, or even try learning a new language or an instrument, for the longest time our efforts seem futile and worthless. We tend to get frustrated with the wait time, the period of camouflage starts to make us insecure. But sometimes relentless surrender is the only way to deal with the growing insecurity. Knowing that this is how nature operates, if we are connected to the vibrational field for long enough our true colors will be revealed in alignment with our environment, not too late not too soon. Any premature action will only make us bitter and repulsive.
Honestly, it is scary. Doubt tends to creep in if we feel hidden for too long, but that’s why we have these heroes, these silent guiding lights to show us the way. These buds and fruits are just hanging in there, in the same branch with the bright and bold ones. Nature didn’t make them competitors, but co-actors. And the process is so automatic and well orchestrated. Only as humans when we bring in comparison and insecurity, we fail to witness our own magic unfolding.
This wait is necessary not just for alignment with the external environment, but with our internal environment as well. Our bodies have to make space for our efforts, which is sort of incorporating a new person within the fabric of the same old person. This embedding can’t happen in the click of a finger. Weaving of our desired new traits with our existing new traits takes time, and this time is sacred.
Give up too soon and you miss the magic.
So keep showing up without being too insecure about how you are being seen.
When you reach your true colors, the world will be here to welcome you.
Loved it. Such a well expressed thought
Nature is not in a hurry, yet leaving nothing undone 🙂🍋
